The Public Ledger is a neutral, automated record of Maldivian government spending and the national economy. It reads only from official government sources, updates itself daily, and links every figure back to where it was published.
It is not affiliated with the Maldivian government or any of the bodies it draws from, and it is not a news website: it does not editorialize, allege, or offer opinion. Platform Insights combines published figures into derived metrics, like per-capita spending or a debt-sustainability projection: straightforward arithmetic on public data, with every assumption disclosed on the page, not commentary or reporting. It exists as a tool for anyone curious about these figures, to browse them in one place. When citing a figure, cite the original source it links to, not this site.
Procurement: contracts & tenders
Published by the Ministry of Finance (finance.gov.mv), the tenders back to 2011. Company names appear in the source under many spellings; they are resolved to one canonical name per company by normalization and fuzzy matching, with every merge recorded and the original spelling preserved on every record. Agency names are grouped only on case and punctuation differences; ministries renamed across governments appear separately, as published. A tender and an award are linked only when their Procurement No matches (the ministry publishes no explicit link); ambiguous matches are flagged, never guessed. Most awards are in MVR, some in USD; where a single total needs one unit, USD is converted at the fixed 15.42 MVR/USD reference rate and per-currency totals are always shown alongside.
Finances, debt & economy
From MMA's published statistics: government finance, public debt, and the wider economy. Government finance figures are annual; recent years are provisional and revised by the authorities during reconciliation.
