Money supply, bank credit and interest rates, published statistics from MMA, in millions of MVR. "Net claims on central government" is what the banking system, including the central bank, has lent the state, net of the state's own deposits. Credit: government vs the private sector
Millions of MVR. When the government line runs above the private-sector line, the banking system is lending more to the state than to all businesses and households combined.
Broad money (M2)
Millions of MVR. The total stock of money in the economy: cash plus deposits.
Dollarization
Share of bank deposits held in foreign currency (%). A rising ratio signals weaker confidence in holding rufiyaa.
Where bank credit goes
Outstanding bank loans to the private sector by economic activity (table 7.9): which parts of the economy the banking system funds.

The monetary base
MMA's own balance sheet (table 7.1): the base money the central bank creates, distinct from the whole-system money supply above.
What the monetary base is made of
Millions of MVR. Currency in circulation plus the reserves banks are required to hold at MMA, together making up the base money the central bank creates.
Beyond the banks
The banking system isn't the whole financial system. The pension fund, insurers and finance companies add to both money supply and private credit (tables 7.5 and 7.11).
